Fedora Core 4 to Fedora Core 6 upgrade on nx9010

Several comments on the process:
1. It took about 3 hours on a Monday night.
2. It ran into Anaconda CONFIG_M586 bug. Took several hours to find out and fix.
3. GNOME Power Manager works out of the box. Suspend still does not work, however hibernation does and is a very convenient feature on a laptop.
4. The new kernel together with the new madwifi driver (0.9.2.1) bring up the wireless network way faster than in the previous setup.
5. In the process of the upgrade my installation of Sun JDK was erased completely. How to setup alternatives for concurrent use of Sun JDK and the new Gnu Java I wonder, so that it would be recognised by Anaconda and friends?
6. There were problems installing beagle because of the conflict with xpdf.
7. While life in this chapiteau was slowly pacing on I found a way around the deadlock problem in Squeak sound recording controls on Unix. Setting canRecordWhilePlaying option under Appearance/Preferences seems to fix the problem.
9. Subpixel smoothing on LCD was absolutely necessary with the new DejaVu fonts.
10. The acroread shell script from Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 was broken. Had to fix manually.

John M McIntosh did excellent research to track down the SoundRecorder bug in the Mac OS version of Squeak. His message is already in the squeak-dev list archives.
